What Exactly Is an Eyelash Lift?

An eyelash lift curls your own eyelashes upward from the base up to the tip, so that full length of the lash is visible.

All eyelashes have a unique natural shape to them, and most people’s lashes extend fairly straight outward. The eyelash lift alters that shape and curve of the lashes using a very tiny curling rod and special lifting and setting solutions.

Because the eyelash lift involves the use of chemicals near the eyes, the treatment should always be performed by a licensed professional – and never attempted at home.

What Is the Eyelash Lift Process?

Every eyelash lift appointment begins with a thorough consultation to determine what kind of eyelash style fits your beauty goals. Saduf will then select the best curling rod size to shape to achieve the look you want.”

Next Saduf will gently sterilize the eye area before placing a warm silicone rod onto the eyelids. She then curls the natural lashes over the rod, and a special adhesive is applied to set the lashes.

Once the eyelashes have been positioned, arranged, and curled into the desired configuration, a lifting lotion is applied to allow the lashes to mold around the curling rod. This is then followed by a setting lotion that sets the lash shape.

The entire treatment typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour.

How Long Does an Eyelash Lift Last?

Generally, an eyelash lift will last four to six weeks, depending on how quickly the patient’s eyelashes grow. Other factors like the amount of wear and tear, makeup, and environmental exposure can also affect the longevity of the eyelash lift.

How Do I Care for my Eyelash Lift?

Patients should leave eyelashes untouched for a full day after their lift. This means no makeup, or water should come in contact with the eyelashes for 24 hours. This ensures that the lift correctly sets into shape. Mascara should be avoided for 48 hours after the treatment, for the same reason.

After 48 hours patients you can fully enjoy their eyelash lift results – with or without mascara – for the next six weeks or so.

Saduf can also recommend a lash oil that can be used after the setting period, to keep your lashes nourished and conditioned, and help extend the life of the lift.

Do Eyelash Lifts Work on Any Lash Length and Color?

Eyelash lifts are safe for every ethnicity and lash color – and the lift solution will darken your natural lashes, which will also help make them more visible.  An eyelash lift can be performed on long or short lashes, as long as they are at least a 4mm long (about 1/8^th of an inch).
