Dispelling Common Myths About Botox
Botox: the famed, injectable neuromodulator used to relax lines and wrinkles in the face. When injected, Botox forces the underlying muscles of the treatment area into a temporary cessation of movement. When this occurs, the skin of the treatment area becomes incapable of wrinkling, making Botox a highly sought-after cosmetic procedure.
But, as is the case with anything to receive mainstream popularity, Botox has been the subject of a great deal of widely circulated misinformation. In this article the injectable specialists at AMAE Med Spa in the Rochester Hills area dispel 5 common, totally untrue myths about Botox.
Myth: Botox is Only for Older People with Deep Wrinkles
Botox – along with competing products such as Jeuveanu, Dysport, and Xeomin – are all capable of providing the temporary erasure or reduction of deep wrinkles such as crow’s feet, vertical frown lines, and forehead lines. That being said, Botox is capable of much more than simply treating deep wrinkles that have already developed!
At our Rochester Hills area med spa, we routinely treat our younger patients with Botox, using the injectable to actually prevent wrinkles before they have the chance to form.
Myth: Botox will Make Me Look Frozen
Contrary to widespread belief, Botox will NOT freeze or remove the patient’s facial expressions, when properly administered by a trained and experienced medical professional. In reality, Botox will only soften facial lines that have developed from excessive facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, or squinting.
At AMAE MedSpa in the Rochester Hills area, we are highly trained to use Botox to provide our patients’ brows with a natural and normal look.
While receiving Botox from an unlicensed practitioner and/or unskilled injector can result in an unnatural, frozen appearance, in the hands of an experienced doctor like Dr. Ali and his experienced nurse injectors, patients can expect flawless, natural-looking results from their Botox injections.
Myth: Botox has to Hurt
Botox – like most other injections – can result in some slight pain (particularly when administered between the eyebrows). That being said, at our Rochester Hills area medical spa, we aim to provide our patients with the most comfortable experience possible.
This is accomplished in part by providing patients with topical anesthetic cream at least 10 minutes prior to their Botox injection, and we can also offer patients the option of further numbing the treatment area with ice.
Myth: Botox is Dangerous
While all drugs tend to be accompanied by their own unique side effects, the side effects of Botox are not only extremely rare, they are also completely temporary. In a miniscule 1 to 5% of all Botox injections, the eyelid or eyebrow experienced some minor droopiness, which generally subsided within a two week period. And when administered by an experienced doctor like Dr. Ali and his experienced nurse injectors, side effects from Botox are practically non-existent.
Myth: Botox Doesn’t Last Long
While everyone’s body is different, the length of time that Botox injections will last varies from patient to patient. At AMAE MedSpa in the Rochester Hills area, our patients can typically begin to see results after just a few days, and results can last as long as six months!
Myth: People Will Know I Got Botox
Like most other cosmetic procedures, the hallmark of a successful Botox treatment is to look as though the patient has not had any “work done” at all. Dr. Ali aims to send all of his Botox patients home simply looking and feeling fresher, happier, and younger.
While poorly-administered Botox does come along with a few dead-giveaways (such as the infamous shiny and smooth forehead), Botox patients face no risk of such undesirable results when they visit our Rochester Hills area medical spa.
When injected by an experienced doctor like Dr. Ali or his experienced nurse injectors the results will be natural and beautiful and will not look like you’ve “had work done”. You will simply look like a younger, healthier, happier version of you!
