Best Under Eye Facial Filler Injections

As we age, it’s very common to experience volume loss and “bags” in the under-eye area. And, nothing makes a person look tired and older than this does!

Facial fillers injected under the eye can take years of a person’s appearance!

However, due to the sensitive nature of the under eye area, it is important to choose the right filler – and the right doctor or nurse injector specialist – to achieve optimal results.

Facial Fillers Not Recommended for Under Eye Injections

Not all facial fillers are appropriate for the delicate under-eye area of the face. Juvederm, while an excellent facial filler for deep lines and wrinkles, is used less frequently to treat the hollows of the eyes because it can be too thick for the delicate skin in that area.

Non hyaluronic acid facial fillers – like Radiesse and Sculptra – are also not recommended for use as an under eye injection. These substances can produce uneven, lumpy results in the thinner skin found in the under eye area.

Best Facial Fillers for Under Eye Injections

At our Birmingham, MI Med Spa our preferred facial filler for use under the eyes is generally Restylane. Restylane injections under the eyes and in the tear trough area can produce very natural looking results – both restoring lost volume under the eyes, as well as reducing the visual appearance of dark under eye circles.

Results from Restylane under eye injections can last up to nine months – which is also much longer than many other dermal fillers.

For a more long lasting solution, you can also discuss the possibility of a facial fat transfer with Birmingham, MI board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ali. Fat transfer or fat grafting using the patient’s own fat cells transferred from another location is another option to restore lost volume in the eye orbit, and other areas.

While this is a more involved, and somewhat more expensive, procedure the results are extremely natural looking, and can be almost permanent.
