Top 12 Tips for Perfect Lip Fillers (Part 1)
Lip fillers are among the most popular cosmetic procedure today. Everyone from A-list celebrities to Troy, MI soccer moms are plumping their lips with fillers. As selfies and social media posts abound, we all want to have an attractive smile – and luscious lips are now easy to get with lip fillers.
Many people are born with thin lips that they want to enhance. Others have experienced lip loss as they have gotten older. Regardless of the cause, lip fillers can be used to increase volume for a full, sexy pout!
We have helped hundreds of women at our Troy, area Med Spa get fuller, more attractive lips with lip fillers. In this 3 part article we share our top twelve tips for perfect lip fillers.
-
Start Slow, and Enhance Lip Fillers Gradually
Creating beautiful, soft, luscious lips is an art – so be patient. It’s totally ok to start slow and add more volume over time, especially if the patient has never had a lip injection before.
Some patients are overjoyed with the results from just one subtle treatment, while others may desire to increase injections over time to build the naturally voluptuous lips they desire.
-
Numbing Makes Lip Fillers More Comfortable
Lips are incredibly sensitive. And regardless of how stalwart a patient is, it’s rare that lip injections are totally comfortable for them. At our Med Spa in Troy, MI we want lip filler injections to be a luxury experience for our patients. So we use a topical cream that numbs the lips before treatment. Plus, the lip-fillers we offer also has a desensitizing component that numbs the injection site.
Just like getting a Novacaine shot at the dentist office, numbing products may affect a patient’s ability to talk, eat or smile after the procedure. Each patient reacts a little differently, but the effects wear off after a few hours.
-
Don’t Get “Duck” Lip Fillers
If there is just one thing to remember when injecting lip fillers, it’s the importance of keeping a natural shape that complements the patient’s unique facial features. A person’s lips are naturally fuller in the middle and taper at the edges.
It’s quite obvious when lip fillers have been misapplied by an inexperienced injector, to create duck lips that are evenly shaped across the face and equally sized on the top and bottom. This eliminates any gradual tapering or proportion and is obviously not natural in appearance.
The Dr. ALi and the nurse injectors in our Troy, MI Med Spa are true artists in their use of lip fillers. Patients can be confident they are placing their personal appearance in the hands of experts who will help them achieve flattering and natural looking lips in the safest most natural looking way possible.
-
Minimize Swelling from Lip Fillers
Some swelling is normal for all patients who have lip filler procedures. Lips will appear a little bee-stung for up to 2 weeks following the injection. But gently applying a small bag of ice or frozen vegetables to the lips can help minimize swelling. Just be careful not to apply the ice itself directly to the injection area.
