ThermiSmooth & ThermEye: What to Expect Before, During and After

ThermiSmooth™ is the latest non-surgical, non-invasive radiofrequency technology that is highly effective for  improving the appearance of aging skin, almost anywhere on the body. ThermiSmooth Eyes – sometimes just called “ThermiEyes” is a precise and targeted form of TheriSmooth that is performed by using a very small temperature-controlled hand piece to safely treat and rejuvenate the delicate skin around the eyes.

As the Birmingham area experts on ThermiSmooth, we explain what to expect before, during and after your ThermiSmooth or ThermiEye treatment!

Before Getting ThermiSmooth & ThermiEye

Before scheduling a ThermiSmooth treatment, communicate with your treatment provider about any medical conditions, to make sure you are a good candidate.

When performed by a licensed medical professional ThermiSmooth is extremely safe and risk free. However there are some people who should not be exposed to this type of radiofrequency device.

ThermiSmooth should not be used on the following patients:

• Women who are pregnant or attempting to become pregnant
• Anyone having electronic devices in the body including: cardiac devices such as AICD’s (auxiliary internal cardiac devices), defibrillator, mechanical valves, pacemakers, or neurological stimulating device
• People with wounded or infected skin in the treatment area
• Individuals with active cold sores

During ThermiSmooth & ThermiEye

Prior to your ThermiSmooth™ treatment, you need to remove all jewelry. Our medical staff will then remove any lotion or makeup from your treatment area. A thin layer of gel will then be applied to the treatment area(s) to sanitize and prepare the skin.

No anesthetic or numbing aid needs to be used prior to or during the treatment.

The ThermiSmooth® treatment is performed using a temperature-controlled hand piece that will be gradually heated from 35°C up to 42°C. Cream is applied and the hand piece is moved around in a slow circular motion.

During the treatment you will feel warmth, and our medical staff will ask you for ongoing about your comfort.  Many patients describe the treatment as feeling like a warm facial massage.

After ThermiSmooth & ThermiEye

Typically, you may return to your normal activities after the ThermiSmooth® treatment – including work, showering and exercise – without restriction. Wash skin with tepid water and a gentle cleanser.

You may experience some pinkish or red areas – but these fade very rapidly. If the skin is slightly pink or red avoid hot water when bathing until any pink has subsided.

Makeup and foundation may be applied immediately post treatment. Soothing, non-irritating creams or moisturizers may also be used.

While ThermiSmooth treatment does NOT cause photo-sensitivity (sun sensitivity), it is wise to use a sun block with an SPF of 30 or greater when in the sun to help prevent future sun damage.

And, always follow the medical advice of your physician regarding any post-procedure care as well as the care of your skin going forward!

Most patient will notice immediate results, with continued improvement over the course of a series of treatments over 6-8 weeks. Collagen production in the skin is a natural, gradual process, so complete results will be visible after 3 to 4 months.
