Which Type of Restylane Should I Get?

Restylane is an extremely popular brand of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Within the Restylane family, there are numerous different dermal filler formulas – each designed to treat a different area of the face or specific aesthetic issue. The Restylane formulations include Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne – and newer Restylane Kysse and Restylane Contour.

Each formula is a clear gel made of hyaluronic acid – which is a sugar molecule that is also naturally found within the human body. So, Restylane acts almost identically to the body’s own naturally produced “plumping” mechanisms. But with so many different types of Restylane, how do you know which one is best for you? Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk was the first dermal filler to be FDA-approved specifically for lip augmentation and the smoothing of wrinkles around the mouth. Silk is a gel that has smaller molecules than other Restylane products – making it smaller, softer, and more precise to inject.

Because of it’s liquid consistency, Restylane Silk can be injected using an ultrafine needle. This not only improves accuracy and precision, but also reduces discomfort and bruising.

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft was the first dermal filler FDA-approved to provide fullness to the cheeks, as well as to restore lost volume in the midface.

Restylane Lyft is most popular among our Birmingham, MI patients for cheek augmentation. It is a thicker gel, so it is suitable for adding volume to hollow, sunken or flat areas where there is loss of fat in the midface. It can also be used to treat moderate to severe facial folds, including nasolabial folds (smile or ‘marionette’ lines). Restylane Lyft contains lidocaine in the formula, which reduces any discomfort during injection.

Restylane Refyne

Restylane Refyne is designed to help soften the laugh lines (“nasolabial folds” or “marionette lines”) that form “parentheses” around the mouth.

Restylane Refyne includes new XpresHAn Technology that creates a gel consistency that does not interfere with natural facial expressions and movement. So patients can smile, frown, eat and even kiss, with natural-looking motions.

In clinical studies an amazing 97% of patients reported that they were satisfied with their Refyne treatment results and would undergo the treatment again. And 95% of treated patients in teh study said they would recommend Refyne to a friend.

Restylane Defyne

While Restylane Refyne treats mild to moderate lines and wrinkles, Restylane Defyne is a thicker gel designed to treat moderate to severe smile lines. Both Refyne and Defyne dermal fillers are very long lasting –  delivering results up to 12 months.

Like Refyne, Restylane Defyne is also cross-linked to act like the body’s own hyaluronic acid – smoothing out deeper lines around the mouth (nasolabial folds and marionette lines) while maintaining a natural range of facial expressions.

Restylane Kysse

Kysse is the first lip filler designed using Restylane’s XpresHAn Technology™ that maintains flexible movement and facial expressions – for natural-looking lip volume. Additionally, new Kysse also enhances the texture and the color of the lips – making it unique among lip fillers.

Restylane Kysse is proven to last for up to 1 year. And. as an added advantage, lower amounts of Restylane Kysse  are needed to achieve an equivalent improvement in lip fullness, compared to other lip filler brands.

Restylane Contour

Restylane Contour is the newest formula in this family of dermal fillers. Recently released, it is designed to restore volume to cheeks, while preserving more natural facial expressions. Restylane Contour can be used to restore cheek volume, shape and definition. without looking frozen or over-stuffed.

Other dermal fillers can give the unnatural look of “chipmunk” or “apple” cheeks. But Restylane Contour solves that problem with a soft and natural “cross linked” formula that acts like the body’s own natural hyaluronic acid.
