How to Get Rid of Cellulite with RF Microneedling
Many people associate cellulite with being overweight. So, they may be surprised to learn that up to 85% of women over 20 likely have some amount of cellulite!
Cellulite appears when hidden fat cells push through layers of connective tissue under the skin, called collagen. Often cellulite appears in the buttocks and thigh regions, however it can likewise show up on arms, stomachs, and other problematic areas. Managing cellulite usually comes in the form of covering it up: wearing long-sleeved dresses, and avoiding shorts and swimsuits. But if you prefer not to spend your days clothed from head to toe, there are more effective ways to deal with cellulite.
Fortunately, at AMAE Med Spa in the Troy, MI area, we offer a revolutionary new technology that will help minimize cellulite – and is proven to leave skin tighter and noticeably smoother. In this article the skin care professionals at AMAE Med Spa in the Troy, MI area explain how our new Morpheus8 Radiofrequency Microneedling treatment can safely decrease the presence of cellulite, and leave your skin silky smooth!
What Causes Cellulite?
Septae are a network of connective tissue strands that run beneath the surface of the skin. Body fat is held in position by these strands. If the fibers become damaged and are no longer woven together as tightly, the fat will bulge out between them and cause lumps and ripples on the skin’s surface.
For men, genetics are in their favor when it comes to cellulite. Female bodies usually have fewer septae in the first place, and what they do have is more loosely arranged than the septae found in male bodies. Because of these factors, cellulite is much more common among women than men.
How to Reduce Cellulite
The internal structure of the skin must be altered and improved in order to fully eliminate cellulite. As a result, merely losing weight via diet and exercise alone is unlikely to eliminate the presence of cellulite. In fact, losing weight can actually lead to more skin sagging than before, making cellulite bumps appear even more prominent!
Can Creams Decrease Cellulite?
Over-the-counter creams and lotions do little to get rid of cellulite – since they cannot improve the skin’s underlying structure.
While ads for topical creams and lotions which claim to help fight or even eliminate cellulite are jammed packed throughout women’s magazines, they simply do not work. These may provide a brief improvement in appearance by temporarily contracting the skin, but they are by no means capable of removing cellulite.
Caffeine is used in some of these topical “solutions.” While it can produce a transitory tightening effect on the skin – providing the illusion of smoothing out the appearance of cellulite bumps – when the cream wears off, so does the illusion.
Some other creams or lotions will contain hyaluronic acid or other similar ingredients designed to attract and hold moisture within the skin, leading to another “illusion”. It temporarily plumps the skin covering the cellulite – in an effect not dissimilar to the inflation of rubber pool toys. But, these effects are also short-lived. Likewise, Vitamins A and C can cause a slight thickening of the skin’s outer dermal layer, making lumps slightly less conspicuous. But the fact of the matter is that no over-the-counter topical alternative offers long-term cellulite repair.
Reducing Cellulite with Radiofrequency Microneedling
But don’t get discouraged! There is an alternative that provides a long-term solution to unsightly cellulite, and it’s available in the form of radiofrequency technology. Morpheus8 radiofrequency microneedling, now offered at AMAE Med Spa in Birmingham, MI, actually repairs the skin’s structure – to visibly and dramatically reduce cellulite!
RF Microneedling with Morpheus8 applies deep thermal energy which stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen. This increases the production of collagen – which literally alters the structure of the skin. As the network of septae becomes stronger, cellulite lumps, bumps and dimples disappear. And, RF Microneedling with the Morpheus8 will also melt and eliminate some of the fat cells within the tissue.
In most cases, patients will achieve as much as a 50% reduction of “dimples” in as little as three sessions, over the course of six weeks. And to maintain long-term results, one or two radiofrequency microneedling maintenance treatments per year can be preformed.
And, best of all, this non-surgical procedure is quick , comfortable and comes with almost no downtime!
How RF Microneedling with Morpheus8 Decreases Cellulite
Morpheus8 Radiofrequency is just what its name implies. Morpheus8 is a skin resurfacing therapy that incorporates both microneedling and radiofrequency. The outcome of combining these two advanced technologies is one of the fastest and most efficient skin tightening and resurfacing procedures available today.
The technical terminology for the Morpheus8 technology is “subdermal adipose remodeling,” which simply means that it uses heat energy to melt fat and rejuvenate the surface of the recipient’s skin.
Morpheus8 uses microscopic needles to penetrate the skin at a depth of up to 4 millimeters—deeper than any other device available. For this reason, Morpheus8 RF technology quickly promotes the regeneration of collagen on a much deeper level within the lower dermis of the skin. The result is a revived and repaired skin texture which is tighter, more supple, and youthful looking.
Microneedling treatments with Morpheus8 are administered under local anesthetic in our Troy, MI area Med Spa. For approximately 24 hours following the procedure, the skin may be mildly reddened, but patients can expect no post-procedural discomfort or pain. Unlike laser skin tightening, radiofrequency microneedling is effective for almost all skin types and colors, and there is little or no downtime during or proceeding the treatments.
