Most patients only need one session to achieve dramatic results, with minimal downtime. At AMAE in the Troy, MI area we are thrilled to offer this new state-of-the-art skin rejuvenation device to our patients because it literally “turns back time” on a person’s appearance.
In this article the skin care experts at AMAE Med Spa in the Troy, MI area discuss the three areas in which Co2RE can significantly improve skin tone and texture for a more youthful appearance.
CO2RE Laser Skin Resurfacing Reduces Wrinkles & Fine Lines
Fine lines and wrinkles develop when the skin’s structural collagen and elastin are depleted due to aging, everyday environmental “wear and tear,” UV exposure, facial muscles tugging on the skin’s structure, and hormonal decline.
Fine lines develop initially, typically around regions that get a lot of use during speaking and making facial expressions, such as the lips and eyes. With time, these small lines become wrinkles, and can eventually develop into deeper creases.
CO2RE Laser Skin Resurfacing Treats Skin Discoloration
Uneven pigmentation may be caused by a variety of factors. Excess melanin due to heredity or hormonal changes can cause hyperpigmentation of the skin. And while uneven skin tone may be caused by genetics, it can develop over time as a result of environmental exposures (such as UV rays).
Lifestyle factors (like smoking or tanning), acne and acne scarring, and skin injury are among the other contributors to dark patches, or rough, bumpy, skin. Not only may skin discoloration make one feel less attractive, but hyperpigmentation can also be a precursor to skin cancer in certain instances.
CO2RE Laser Skin Resurfacing Improves Skin Texture
A variety of causes may contribute to uneven skin texture. The texture of the skin may be influenced by genetics, acne scars, UV damage, everyday exposure to the environment, hormones, and aging. – all of which may contribute to the appearance of rough, bumpy facial skin.
Dull skin that lacks a healthy radiance may also be linked to aging and UV damage over time. Dehydration, lack of sleep, stress, poor skin care, and smoking may all contribute to the appearance of dull and damaged looking skin. Enlarged pores may also be caused by age, reduced skin tone surrounding the pores, and heredity, in addition to increased sebum (oil) production.
Types of Laser Skin Resurfacing
For decades, carbon dioxide lasers have been safely and effectively utilized in the medical and cosmetic fields. CO2 lasers, unlike erbium lasers, penetrate the skin very deeply, enabling skin resurfacing and remodeling on a deeper cellular level. Because CO2 lasers are stronger than other types of laser and radiofrequency treatments, they typically result in somewhat longer recovery periods, with more redness, skin peeling, and swelling. that can persist for weeks.
On the other hand, non-ablative fractional lasers that produce microchannels of damage while leaving surrounding healthy skin intact allows for faster healing. However, they do not reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation abnormalities, and scars as aggressively as ablative CO2 lasers.
CO2RE Revolutionizes Laser Skin Resurfacing
CO2RE laser skin resurfacing takes skin resurfacing to a new level by combining both an ablative and a fractional laser. The ablative laser removes the thin top skin layer (epidermis), while the fractional laser deeply penetrates the underlying skin (dermis) while minimizing damage to healthy skin. This dual-action stimulates the production of new elastin and collagen fibers – to rebuild new, smooth, clear, skin cells – while reducing downtime.
Dr. Ali will apply a local anesthetic before CO2RE laser skin resurfacing, to ensure a painless treatment.
