To help our Birmingham, MI area patients stay healthy and gorgeous on the inside and the outside, we now offer natural, safe and highly effective BioTe hormone replacement pellets.
In this article, board certified plastic surgeon and skin care expert Dr. Ali, MD answers our patients’ most frequently asked questions about BioTE® bioidentical hormone replacement pellets.
What is Hormone Replacement Therapy?
A decrease or imbalance in the body’s production of hormones can put women and men at risk for a great number of health concerns. Just some of the many problems are associated with hormone imbalance or deficiency include: lack of energy, weight gain (commonly belly fat), decreased libido (sex drive), and painful intercourse, sluggish thyroid, visibly aging skin, osteoporosis and much, much more.
Hormone replacement therapy involves testing the patient’s blood for deficiencies, and then prescribing hormones to replace the missing or declining hormones. This can restore health and vitality in many areas of life.
What is “Bioidentical” Hormone Replacement?
Bioidentical hormones are derived from natural sources, to replace the body’s missing hormones. Bioidentical hormones are virtually identical in structure to the human hormones that they are replacing.
At AMAE in Birmingham, MI we offer our patients BioTE® bioidentical hormone replacement pellets – which are chemically identical to human hormones. BioTE® bioidentical hormone replacement pellets are derived from 100% natural plant or animal sources, and are NOT artificially lab-created like many other hormone treatments.
Why Use Hormone Pellets Instead of Pills or Creams?
Pills and creams – which are taken once a day – provide inconsistent delivery of hormones to the body. There is a hormone spike or surge after the pill or cream that then wears off until the next dose – leading to a rollercoaster of hormone delivery. As a results hormone levels do not stay level – and relief from symptoms is uneven and irregular.
But bioidentical hormone pellets are “time-released” so they deliver hormones to the body in a constant and consistent manner. This balanced and even delivery of bioidentical hormones can offer continuous and lasting relief from a wide variety of medical problems and symptoms that are caused by hormone imbalance.
Additionally, BioTe hormone replacement pellets last from 3 to 5 months in women, and from 4 to 6 months in men. So it’s “one and done” and there’s no more inconvenience of daily pills, or messy hormone creams.
How are Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Pellets Inserted?
BioTE® hormone replacement pellets are inserted in a quick in-office procedure at AMAE in Birmingham, MI. First a mild local anesthetic is used to numb the insertion area, typically in the hip or sometimes the lower abdomen. Then the pellet – smaller than a grain of rice – is inserted under the skin.
The time-released pellets, and continue to release hormones into the body consistently over time. Eventually the pellets dissolve, and do not have to be removed.
