Celebrity Injectable Facial Fillers in the News

One of the most common topics in entertainment news is whether or not certain celebrities have had any cosmetic procedures done. Some A-listers have attempted to conceal cosmetic procedures. However others -such as the Kardashians- have no difficulty discussing the fact that they’ve undergone injectable procedures such as lip fillers and facial fillers.

In a recent interview in the Huffington Post with Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow (of E!’s “Botched”) the surgeons emphatically stated that it’s very likely that almost every celebrity has had some sort of cosmetic procedure.

In that article, these celebrity surgeons explain that less than a decade ago, the go-to cosmetic procedure was to have injections into the face that gave way to a string of celebrities all looking slightly “off,” and appearing similar to one another. This “new face,” as it was dubbed, left a homogenous-looking mark on Hollywood that developed something of a tacky reputation over the years.

Now, thanks to facial fillers and Juvéderm, celebrities have the option of looking like a youthful, more vivacious version of themselves, rather than just looking like everyone else. Much of the popularity of the new facial fillers trend can be attributed “influencers” like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner.

Facial Fillers Instead of Surgery

In this day and age, a lot of celebrities are opting to forego traditional cosmetic surgery, but are still having “work done” in the form of facial fillers. Just because someone says they’ve “never had plastic surgerey,” it doesn’t mean they haven’t had some kind of non-invasive procedure that doesn’t require surgery.

Most cosmetic surgeons are of the opinion that nearly everyone in Hollywood is getting some sort of facial filler, like Restylane and Juvéderm. And more and more, celebrities are opening up about the procedures they’ve undergone.Recently, on her short-lived talk show, Kocktails with Khloe, Khloe Kardashian went on record to say that she herself had received (and loved!) facial fillers.

Perhaps the most popular modern cosmetic procedure is some form of lip injection, thanks once again to trends set by Miss Kylie Jenner.

Not long before the model and reality star’s 18^th birthday, she went on record saying she had undergone lip injections, admitting to having used Juvéderm in an interview with the New York Times. Since then, the entrepreneur and social media icon has become one of the most outspoken proponents of Juvéderm and other facial fillers, and has become one of the leading beauty icons of the 21^st century.

Since Kylie set the stage, women from their 20s to their 70s are more likely than ever to opt for lip fillers, with an ever-increasing number of women also getting fillers in their faces.

Kylie’s go-to cosmetic dermatologist, Simon Ourian, M.D., specializes in natural-looking lip injections. In an interview with Us Weekly Magazine, Ourian went on record saying that cheek fillers can be equally beneficial to a facelift. “The most popular procedure,” Ourian said, “is dermal filler injections for an instant cheek lift.”

Dr. Ourian went on to say that while semi-permanent and long-lasting dermal fillers exist, semi-permanent options are more natural, as well as better for clients who are on the fence about their long-term cosmetic goals. Permanent fillers (including Sculptra and Radiesse), are no longer used by specialists like Dr. Ourian, while semi-permanent fillers such as Voluma, Juvéderm, and Restylane are preferred, and can be re-injected every so often to keep them up.
