Coolsculpting for Double Chin

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical body sculpting treatment. This procedure literally freezes unwanted fat.  The destroyed fat cells are then gradually elliminated from the body through natural processes. With Coolsculpting, the fat removal is permanent and your double chin will not come back.

Very recently, the FDA approved CoolSculpting for treatment of fat on smaller areas of the body, including under the chin. We offer a specialized applicator called the CoolMini, that targets fat cells in double chins to freeze them off.

Kybella for Double Chin

Kybella is the only injected medication that is approved by the FDA for eliminating unwanted fat beneath the chin. Kybella’s formula is a synthetic version of a substance called dexoycholic acid. When injected, this medication causes the rapid destruction and absorption of fat cells – and also prevents future fat accumulation! After the injection, the destroyed fat cells are slowly eliminated by body’s natural metabolism over time.

Kybella & CoolSculpting Similarities

Both Kybella and Coolsculpting Coolmini can substantially improve the chin area, and dramatically define the jawline.

In both procedures only the unwanted fat cells are targeted, while and all other cells and tissues are not affected.

Both Kybella and Coolsculpting are non-surgical – which means no scarring, no anesthesia, and no downtime. Any side effects of both treatments are very minimal, and may include mild swelling, bruising, redness, or discomfort that typically subsides in less than a week.

Kybella & CoolSculpting Differences

• Kybella is performed through a series of injections. So, individuals who are squeemish about needles may prefer CoolSculpting treatments.

However, because Kybella is injected into small areas at a time, it can treat more precise or isolated areas of the chin.  CoolSculpting, on the other hand,  treats the whole chin area at once, rather than smaller targeted areas.

Another important difference is that CoolSculpting has recently been proven to have some skin tightening effects on “lax” neck skin. For this reason, CoolScupting CoolMini may be preferable over Kybella for patients with loose or mature skin.

Kybella & CoolSculpting Treatments Required

While some improvement will be seen after just a single treatment of Kybella or CoolSculpting, most patients will require a series of treatments in order to achieve their complete and total results.

Kybella sessions:

• normally last 10 to 20 minutes
• involve multiple injections most patients require multiple sessions
• three to six sessions of Kybella is typical to fully treat a double chin.

CoolSculpting sessions:

• lasts approximately 45 minutes.
• most patients require two sessions to fully eliminate unwanted double chin fat
• generally a noticeably stronger jaw after just one treatment.

Kybella & CoolSculpting Results Time

Kybella

Most patients see a 50 percent fat reduction after just two sessions, and a 70 percent reduction after four – with full results after six Kybella treatments. Because Kybella requires the dead fat cells to be metabolized and eliminated by the body, it takes three or four weeks after each treatment before you see the fat start to melt away.

Coolsculpting

Your first CoolSculpting Mini session can reduce neck fat by up to 20-25 percent, with similar results acheived in each successive treatment. It typically can take up to 8-12 weeks for your body to break down and metabolize crystallized fat cells after a CoolSculpting CoolMini session.
