How Much does Botox Cost?
Botox is priced by the “unit” – so the cost of treatment will depend upon how many units you require. Different areas of the face require more Botox to relax the muscles than other areas of the face. Additionally, if your lines are deeper or bigger you will require more units of Botox than a person with fine or early stage wrinkles.
In this article Birmingham board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ali discusses some of the general factors to consider in understanding how much a Botox treatment is likely to cost in your situation. However, the best way to understand how much Botox will cost you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Ali in our state-of-the-art Birmingham, MI MedSpa.
How Much Botox Will I Need?
It only takes about 3 to 10 units to treat crow’s feet around the eyes. So Botox for crow’s feet is one of the most affordable cosmetic treatments out there!
It may take around 20 units to treat horizontal forehead lines, and up to 25 units to treat the “furrows” between the eyes. The size of your facial muscles as well as the depth and degree of your lines or furrows will determine how much Botox you need.
Additionally, men typically need more Botox units than women do. This is simply because they have larger facial muscles, which will require more Botox to relax.
Price of Botox
Nationally the cost of Botox runs from $9 to $20 per unit. At our Birmingham MedSpa we are closer to the lower end of the spectrum. In our Birmingham, Michigan MedSpa we charge $12 per unit of Botox when administered by a nurse practitioner and $13 per unit when administered by Dr. Ali.
keep in mind that the cost not only covers the price of the product, but also the skill and expertise of the nurse or doctor who is administering your procedure.
Remember, Botox is a “toxin” that paralyzes the muscles and releases the wrinkles or lines. When performed by a skilled and experienced nurse or doctor it is extremely safe. But when performed improperly by someone who is inexperienced it can result in facial drooping, serious vison problems, and even difficulty breathing.
Botox® Cosmetic is a sensitive treatment that requires experience, artistic technique and medical know-how. Be wary of discount products or “cheap” Botox treatments – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Facial injections are not something on which you want to cut corners!
