Rosacea Treatment Using Morpheus8 RF Microneedling

Rosacea is an inflammatory condition of the skin that causes redness, flushing, visible veins, and for some people it can result in fluid-filled blemishes. While Rosacea is common in roughly 5% of the population, it is most found in middle aged white women.

Rosacea, unfortunately, is still not well-understood in traditional medicine. There are no definitive causes or testing modalities to identify rosacea. This makes diagnosis and treatment of rosacea difficult and subjective. Rosacea presently also has no known cure. How Morpheus8 RF Microneedling Treats Rosacea

Morpheus8 is a medical device that uses both radiofrequency (RF) and microneedling to stimulate production of collagen and other natural repair mechanisms. Morpheus8 treats the skin at a deep, cellular level.

Microneedling treatment consists of several very fine needles that pass through the upper layer of the skin and penetrate the layers beneath. Microneedling creates micro-injuries to the deeper layers of the skin, which stimulates a natural healing response from the body.

The Morpheus8 needles move through the skin’s layers while also emitting powerful, but gentle, radiofrequency heat energy. This thermal energy also activates the body’s cellular repair mechanisms.

For an initial visit, treatment depth may be more superficial to allow for monitoring the healing response. The treatment can then be adjusted accordingly based on results of the initial treatment depth.

Morpheus8 Rosacea Treatment – Clinical Studies

In one clinical study of the effectiveness of treating rosacea symptoms with microneedling, it was reported that therapies such as Morpheus 8 significantly improve rosacea. In the study’s findings, there was improvement to both appearance and inflammation of the skin in patients who had mild to moderate rosacea.

As part of the study, 21 patients with rosacea received two radiofrequency microneedling sessions on a single side of their face, 4 weeks apart. The study consisted of 20 female patients and 1 male patient. The patients were assessed at intervals over the course of 12 weeks following their final microneedling session.

Of the participants, 81% saw visible improvement. Measurement of redness showed clinical improvement in rosacea on the treated side, in comparison with no improvement on the untreated side. Patients also experienced a reduction of other symptoms on the treated side. This included less itching, burning or pricking.

This study also indicated that there were serious side effects to radiofrequency microneedling treatment. This indicates that Morpheus8 is an effective, save option for treatment of rosacea.

Morpehus8 Microneedling has an advantage over laser treatments in that it is safe for darker skin tones. Instead of treating rosacea through lasers that target dark pigment, radiofrequency leaves the outer layer of skin in tact and repairs the skin from within.
