The Best Stretch Mark Removal Treatment
If you have unsightly stretch marks that are bothering you, you’ve probably already tried creams and other over-the-counter stretch mark treatments with no luck. And while these at-home remedies rarely work, the good news is that we offer a highly effective new, state-of-the-art stretch mark reduction in our Birmingham, MI Med Spa.
Understanding Stretch Marks
It’s common for men and woman to experience unsightly stretch marks across many areas of the body. Stretch marks are caused when the middle layer of the skin, called the dermis is stretched and breaks down. Different stages of life such as puberty, growth spurts and pregnancy in women cause the body to rapidly expand and substantially stretch the skin. The most common areas that Dr. Ali sees at the AMAE Med Spa in Birmingham, MI are the upper arms, lower back, buttocks, abdomen, breasts and upper thighs.
Unfortunately stretch marks occur because the middle layer of skin has poor elasticity, which some individuals are more prone to experience. Once the skin in stretched during pregnancy, or after a large amount of weight is lost quickly, the skin can’t regain its normal shape and a stretch mark is created.
The breakdown of dermal collagen creates a mark that is shiny with silver streaks over time. However, stretch marks can also be reddish or purplish toned, depending on the person’s skin color.
PRP Microneedling Stretch Mark Removal Treatment
Considered a newer treatment option, PRP microneedling is an innovative approach that is very effective in reducing stretch marks. And while individual results will vary, even AMAE Med Spa patients who have had stretch marks for long periods of time have seen dramatic improvements.
The body is amazing at rebuilding itself after an injury. It immediately starts to dissolve damaged tissue in order to replace it with healthy cells. PRP injects the body’s own platelets extracted from the patient’s blood into the stretch mark area that needs repair.
Using a microneedling process creates micro-injuries in the skin which allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process. Scar tissue, including stretch marks, are healed and repaired by the body’s own collagen that is automatically triggered as a result of the PRP injection.
Typically, a PRP microneedling treatment performed by Dr. Ali takes under an hour in our AMAE Med Spa and the patient experiences no down time. Over the next few days, the treatment area may experience some redness while the healing process begins. The full benefits of the treatment are seen within four to six weeks as collagen production increases, but some patients report seeing immediate results after treatment.
Why PRP Microneedling is the Best Stretch Mark Removal Treatment
With minimal downtime and just a little post procedure redness, PRP microneedling is the preferred treatment at AMAE Med Spa for stretch marks. Compared to laser resurfacing or CO2 fractional treatments, PRP microneedling is appropriate for most all skin tones. Even patients with darker tones or sensitive skin tolerate 100% natural PRP stretch mark reduction well.
Other Stretch Mark Removal Treatments
Dr. Ali and the skin care professionals in our AMAE Med Spa in Birmingham, MI also offer other addition stretch mark removal procedures that are minimally invasive. These include IPL Fraxel that is ideal to treat reddish or bluish toned stretch marks.
