Cellulite is a Very Common Skin Condition

Cellulite is one of the most prevalent cosmetic concerns among women. Additionally, unfortunately, it is one of the most difficult aesthetic problems to cure.

Cellulite issues affect about 100 million women in the United States between the ages of 20 and 55. However, anybody who has attempted to eliminate cellulite on their own can attest that over-the-counter lotions, rollers, wraps, and other online and drug store treatments do little or nothing to alleviate the dimpled  appearance of cellulite.

What Causes Cellulite

Cellulite is a word that is often used to describe regions of skin that have acquired a dimples or depressions for a “cottage cheese” look. Cellulite is most often seen on the buttocks and thighs, although it may appear in other regions of the body as well.

Cellulite may affect people of all body shapes, sizes and weights. Even those who are slim or at their optimum weight may develop cellulite. And, although males may get cellulite as well, it is far more prevalent on female bodies. This is due to the fact that men’s skin is inherently thicker than women’s.

Cellulite develops when the collagen fibers that support the skin deteriorate due to aging, weight increase, or heredity. Subsequently, the underlying fat deposits “push through” the connective tissue under the skin, resulting in visible, dimpled fat “pockets.”

How Profound® Combats Cellulite

Profound® combines microneedling with sophisticated radiofrequency (RF) technology to provide very precise heat to the skin’s lower levels.

This regulated heat radiation penetrates deep into the dermis (lower layers) of the skin, contracting the collagen fibers – which tightens and smooths the skin preventing fat from “poking through.”

Along with immediate skin tightening, the RF waves encourage the body to produce more collagen fibers over time. As the body’s natural collagen synthesis increases, the connective tissue of the skin grows thicker, smoother, and stiffer, effectively trapping fat under the skin’s surface.

Dr. Ali will apply a local anesthetic before Profound, to ensure a painless treatment. Once the skin has become numb, extremely fine, clinical grade needles are used to penetrate the skin, releasing radiofrequency (RF) energy deep into the dermis.

The Profound® RF system uses advanced long-pulse, multi-bipolar, radiofrequency energy to achieve the same results as a facelift without surgery. The Profound® treatment precisely delivers the correct amount of thermal RF energy to activate the skin’s own natural healing processes – dramatically smoothing and tightening the skin.

Typically, there is an immediately visible reduction in cellulite due to Profound’s instant skin contracting.  More amazing cellulite reduction results from Profound will typically become noticeable as early as six weeks later. Number of Profound® Cellulite Reduction Treatments Needed

The total number of Profound® cellulite reduction treatments required by a patient is determined by the amount of cellulite being treated – as well as the general health of their skin. In many cases a single Profound® cellulite reduction session is all that is needed. However, individuals with greater amounts of cellulite may need an additional treatment.
