What to Do (and What to Expect!) After Getting Botox
Knowing the do’s and don’ts of skin care after getting Botox treatments will help give the best results possible! In this article we share some tips for
What to Do After Getting Botox
It’s important to follow the doctor’s instructions before, during and after getting Botox injections. First of all, within 24 hours of the procedure, don’t touch, massage or rub injection sites. The area of injection has been specifically selected to give you the desired results. Any physical pressure to these areas could accidentally move the Botox to other facial muscles. Relax and don’t take part in strenuous activity. Avoid excess drinking of alcohol. Wait at least 24 hours before getting chemical peels, facials, microdermabrasion or any facial procedures. Do not take blood thinning medication within a day of getting Botox.
If bruises form after Botox, using vitamin K or arnica can help reduce bruising. Using a good concealer with a green or yellow pigment will also help hide these temporary bruises. In the event of rare, but severe bruising, laser treatments can help fade bruises quicker.
Mild Side Effects of Botox
Using the most knowledgeable Botox doctor will deliver a reliable and positive experience. As with any procedure, there can be temporary side-effects with Botox injections. A patient may experience mild swelling and rashes. Other side-effects include headache, mild nausea or flu-like symptoms, mild numbness, dry mouth and fatigue. An experienced doctor will be able to identify the proper dosage of Botox, which will diminish the occurrence and length of these reactions.
Of course, call us immediately – or seek medical attention – if you ever experience any side effects or complications that you believe may be from the Botox treatment. Side effects are extremely rare, but the sooner you address them, the faster they will be resolved.
99% of the patients at our Birmingham MedSpa are completely satisfied with our skillful Botox injections. But in the rare case where you may feel something needs adjusting, we encourage you to please make an appointment to come in and see us for a follow up appointment.
When You will See Botox Results
The visual effects and freezing of facial muscles from Botox can be seen within a few hours of the procedure. About a week after the Botox treatment, the full effect should be visible.
The effects of Botox will usually last for 4 to 6 months. Botox freezes the muscle and blocks neuro-transmitters to prevent muscle movement. In order to maintain a smooth facial appearance, prevent crow’s feet and lines on the forehead, many of our Birmingham, MI clients receive Botox treatments twice a year.
